Well just yesterday I found out that I have torn my fascia or the muscle on the bottom of your foot that connects the heal to the ball of the foot. I did it doing something that I love though, running. It really sucks though because I can't run and we are just at the beginning of track season. So I am finished for the season.
The ironic thing about it all is that the day before I found out I was not going to be able to run, at my church's bible study we were talking about how if you died tomorrow would you change some things about what you said and did. Well I think that any competing athlete should not go out there thinking there is another race cause in my case, there is not one. So whether it’s the last day of my life our just my last race for a while I'm going to work extra hard to put it all out there and just live.

Things have not been easy lately, I have been crazy busy and keep getting busier. But last week end my Mom went to California. It was my grandma's 80th birthday. My mom's sisters were having a surprise party for her and so my mom had to go. Originally my mom was not going to go, but that was before the news. My grandma for the about the last two years has been battling cancer for the second time. She had breast cancer and was cancer free in 2000. But in the summer of 2007 we found out that she had bone cancer and cancer in her liver. then about two or three weeks before the surprise party we found out that the cancer is in her lungs and her chest cavity. So this made my mom go to the party and I'm gald she went. Because we only get one time around.
That's a line from one of my favorite songs right now. "One Life to Love" by 33Miles. this song just keeps reminding me that we don't have a redue button so we can't change how we spend our time we have to choice how we spend it. It's a lot like money once you've spent there is no getting it back. All can say is that I really am trying to make to time for the things I'll remember forever and letting go of the all the extra filers.

Coaches

Welcome to my blog. I don't know what inspired me to start blogging but I just kind off want to starting writing. The week before Christmas break began I found out that my cross country coach was leaving. He won't be back next semester so he is leaving before track season starts. So for my first blog I thought that I would just talk about coaches. A good coach is not only someone who can run drills and blow a whistle, a good coach is someone who believes in you sometimes even more than you do. A coach can give you harsh criticism but they do it because they want to see you succeed.
One of my cross country coaches said this on her blog “I saw one of my girls set a significant personal record with a memorable face of determination at the finish line…A female with whom I have trained many days at practice and have tried to teach to push herself, believe in herself, and enjoy her sport.” That girl she is talking about is me. See this is what a coach is, not only do they make us run drills but they also try to form us into better people not just better athletes.
Few days after my coach said that he was leaving I got a card from him in one of classes. He wrote a lot but the most important line was: “I think what I admire most, is your leadership and character.” Right there that shows that my coach was not just out there to blow a whistle and make us run another lap. It shows that he was there to get to know us and make his athletes better people, not just better runners.
